Teachers in Rivers State are complaining of five months unpaid Salary.






Teachers in Rivers State say they disappointed over the delay of their unpaid salary for five months now.

According to the states Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Lucky Nkpongene, while speaking to news men said most of the union members have completed the BVN exercise which they where ask to do but still no salary yet. He said, he wondered why government officials had been claiming to the public that no teacher was being owed. Lucky also warned that if this is not resolved the teachers might be forced to embark on strike action.

Lucky made mention of teachers in  Port Harcourt City Local Government, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, and Obio-Akpor Local Government. His statement goes thus:

“We have made several consultations and just yesterday we have registered our complaints. Our members are being pushed to the wall and I can assure you, we will bounce back.”

This unpaid salary issue is also affecting other sector of the state, due to this the government have scheduled a meeting within the week to deliberate on  this.
